A place I've always wanted to visit. And what a great place. It's truly otherworldly, as you drive further and further onto this (very large) spit of land, and it turns from the verdant green of the Kent country, to a wild, desolate stony headland.
And then someone somewhere decided it would be OK to build a sodding great nuclear power station on this amazing natural landscape. I'd like to see that go through planning these days. I'm guessing the access to lots and lots of water, and not so many people were some of the drivers.
The whole complex is now undergoing a massive decommission phase, and I read that the aim is to take the whole site back to nature - but this is going to take decades to achieve. Quite some project.
I need to come back here and rent one of the random cottages on the beach - would be great for stargazing.
