Seriously, (nearly) Wild Camping does not get any better than this.
The site is on a farm. The farm has a small river running by the side of it - Hindwell Brook - and that small river has created a spit of land that, give a few more years will become, as every schoolboy knows, an Ox Bow lake - you can see it in the map below where the white tent is.
I had to drive through a cow field to get to the 'island', and I literally got stuck in a herd of cows as they surrounded the car - most amusing.
But when I go to the actual camping area, it was perfect. As you can see I was able to hang my hammock tent almost over the river.....
And better still, I could set up my cooking station on the 'beach' created by the bend in the brook. It was perfect.
I had a lovely evening cooking Herefordshire Beef, drinking Gatkins cider, and reading Phil Rickmans The Wine of Angels. It don't get more Herefordshire than that
